Recap Roundup

MCI Southwest

The sun wasn't the only thing on fire this week in Arizona, 11 performing groups, the largest number since Premiere, lit up the University of Phoenix Stadium. Between returning champions to continuing victors to fresh and new groups, the competition was incredibly fierce.

World Class

Blue Phantoms (1st - 97.498) continued their rise through World Class with their third-consecutive gold medal this week in Arizona. They took their only caption win in Winds but this doesn't seem like a major loss considering they currently hold the most caption wins out of any group at this point in the season, with 10 wins in various captions and 21 wins in sub-captions across 5 shows. Blue Phantoms placed second in General Effect, Percussion, and Colorguard.

Bluecrowns (2nd - 96.948) made their Season 4 debut this week in Arizona with a  strong hold on the silver medal. The Season 3 Open Class Champion jumped into World Class competition with a fury, winning the General Effect caption over the Blue Phantoms who won the award last week in Pasadena. They placed 3rd in Winds and Percussion but a 5th place finish in an especially strong Colorguard field prevented the Bluecrowns from jumping into 1st place overall.

Category 4 (3rd - 96.827) nabbed their second overall medal of the season in Phoenix. They took top marks in the Colorguard caption. They placed 3rd in General Effect, 4th in Winds, and 5th in Percussion.

Blue Brigades (4th - 96.217), while not taking any caption awards, had a strong finish in Winds, placing 2nd. They placed 4th in the other 3 captions.

Spirit (5th - 96.127) took top marks in Percussion in Phoenix. Besides a strong percussion performance, they also held 3rd in Colorguard. Spirit finished 5th in General Effect and Winds.

Ocean View Regiment (6th - 82.530) has continued their growth in MCI. They placed 6th in all captions.

Open Class

Carrollton Imperials (1st - 95.510), a newcomer to MCI, stormed into Open Class with a strong lead owed to a full caption sweep. The fourth caption sweep achieved by various groups throughout this season's Open Class competition, they also took top marks in every sub-caption.

Glassmen (2nd - 94.916) grew on their score by almost four-tenths of a point from MCI NorCal. They placed 2nd in all captions and sub-captions.

Palm Gulch HS (3rd - 93.008) continued to medal this week in Phoenix. They placed 3rd in all captions.

Orchid HS (4th - 86.381) placed 4th in all captions.

Palaski (5th - 85.336) placed 5th in all captions.
